MAJOR PROBLEMS OF PAKISTANI SOCIETY
DRAWBACK'S OF PAKISTANI SOCIETY
Nowadays,PAKISTAN is facing numerous problems. These problems need serious government attention and due to lack of focus, planning these problems become bigger.
Some major problems of our country are listed below:
1.POVERTY
2.ILLITERACY
3.ENERGY CRISIS
4.CORRUPTION
5.INTERNATIONAL INTERFERENCE
6.TERRORISM
7.OVERPOPULATION
8.UNEMPLOYMENT
9.ECONOMY CRISIS
10.HEALTH ISSUES
I'm going to discuss all these problems just to make you aware of our country current situation.
- Poverty
Environmental degradation is also a
cause of poverty in Pakistan. The
environment-poverty nexus manifests itself
most particularly in health effects. For
example, waterborne diseases are
widespread because 17 percent of the urban
and 47 percent of the rural population does
not have access to clean drinking water. The
poor also tend to be more vulnerable to the
effects of air and water pollution, both in
rural and urban areas, given their limited
access to quality health care. The
prevalence of disease exacerbates poverty
firstly by compelling the poor to devote ever
increasing proportions of their limited
income to health costs, and secondly by
reducing productivity.
Poverty Condition in Pakistan Definition A situation in which a person or household lacks the resources necessary to be able to consume a certain minimum basket of goods. The basket consists either of food, clothing, housing and other essentials (moderate poverty) or of food alone (extreme poverty). The most common method used to define poverty is income- based.
Homelessness, or extreme poverty, carries with it a particularly strong set of risks for families, especially children. Homeless children are less likely to receive proper nutrition and immunization. They experience more health problems. Homeless women experience higher rates of low-birth-weight babies, miscarriages, and infant mortality, probably due to not having access to adequate prenatal care for their babies. Homeless families experience even greater life stress than other families, including increased, family relationships, and friendships. Effects of poverty in Pakistan.
This problem can only be eliminate by proper planning of financial career of PAKISTAN,which can only be done by GOVT.of PAKISTAN.
- ILLITERACY
The literacy rate in pakistan is 60% .The most common cause of illiteracy in our country s that it's not our priority.
There are many reasons for the low literacy rates of pakistan such as poverty, population expansion, feudal lords and wadera system, low allocation of budget ,male dominated society and lack of school in rural areas.
“Education is learning what you didn’t even know you didn’t know.” (Daniel J. Boorstin)
Pakistan is facing numerous problems. But the people of Pakistan being less educated do not care for the problems and consider them as a political fault.
Some of the problems arising due to less education are:
- Corruption: do we realize how corruption causes a collapse in our economy ?
- Theft: do we realize how stealing may lead to trust deficit.
- Terrorism: do we realize how the uneducated people are being brainwashed to stand up against their own people ?
- Poor politics: do we realize that without proper research giving away votes may damage our politics ?
- Poor economic growth: do we realize how poor politics may lead to poor economic growth ?
- Unemployment: do we realize no education will lead to unemployment ?
- Bad behaviors: do we realize how less education will make us forget our manners ?
- Child labor: Do we realize how less education will cause little children to work on the streets to earn a living ?
- Beggars: do we realize how unemployment may lead to increasing no. Of beggars in the country ?
- Disunity: do we realize how less education will drive the people of Pakistan apart
“If you think education is expensive, try ignorance” (Derek Bok)
I hope for a better future for our country.
ENERGY CRISIS
An energy crisis is any great shortfall in the supply of energy resources to an economy. It usually refers to the shortage of oil and additionally to electricity or other natural resources.
The crisis often has effects on the rest of the economy, with many recessions being caused by an energy crisis in some form. In particular, the production costs of electricity rise, which raises manufacturing costs.
“Crisis” is one word which has become part of ordinary Pakistani’s vocabulary like nothing else.
Thousands of daily waged workers have become jobless in industrial areas like Faisalabad, in homes women folk is suffering to feed their children, passengers wait for hours as the public transport has no CNG while those having personal transport wait for hours in order to obtain much required CNG refilling.
Our innocent executives like their predecessor have a bucket full of excuses in order to justify this mismanagement.
Energy resources have depleted! Whatever resources are available are simply too expensive to buy or already acquired by countries which had planned and acted long time ago. Delayed efforts in the exploration sector have not been able to find sufficient amounts of energy resources. Nations of the world which have their own reserves are not supplying energy resources anymore; only the old contracts made decades ago are active. Airplanes, trains, cars, motorbikes, buses and trucks, all modes of transportation are coming to a standstill. Many industries have closed due to insufficient power supply. Price of oil has gone above the ceiling. At domestic level, alternate methods like solar, biogas and other methods are being tried for mere survival.
The above is a likely scenario of Pakistan and around the globe after 25 years. A pessimistic view, but realistic enough to think about and plan for the future. But are we doing anything about it? Let’s have a look at the current energy situation of Pakistan and the world.
- CORRUPTION
Corruption is one of most chronic issues all over world especially in the third world countries like Pakistan where it has routed down in government institutions enough that cannot be eliminated easily following the stakes of powerful bureaucrats and corrupt politicians.
Corruption has spoiled Pakistan completely and is resulting in increase in poverty, unemployment, hunger and is tarnished the image of the country by bringing immense miseries to its people. Corruption has been deep routed in all levels either private or government from top to bottom and anti-corruption institutions have unfavourably failed to address this or even reduce the ongoing dishonesty and frauds. There are many top politicians who have been reportedly involved in this misconduct that are concerned with their stakes only without thinking about the public.
- INTERNATIONAL INTERFERENCE
Pakistan is currently facing several distinct but inter-related conflicts.
International interventions in Pakistan and the surrounding region have also contributed to instability. Pakistan withdrew its previous support for the Taliban to support the US-led NATO invasion of Afghanistan in 2001. International drone strikes in Pakistan’s tribal areas have escalated domestic conflicts. Intense fighting between the TTP and the Pakistani security forces in 2009 displaced 3 million people, and caused extensive civilian deaths.
Among nearly 200 countries of the world, there is hardly any country at relative peacetime today where envoys of other states interfere so much in internal political matters. One of the most respected principles of international law is one state’s non-interference in the internal affairs of another state. Yet, in Pakistan’s case, almost on a daily basis, we see envoys of “influential” foreign countries playing quite an “active” role in domestic politics.
If one observes Pakistan’s current situation, certainly, Pakistan will top the list of countries with political and economic issues all over the world. Foreign intervention has caused several problems in Pakistan including poverty, illiteracy, energy crisis, corruption, political instability, terrorism, overpopulation, inflation, unemployment and economic crisis. Recently, at the International Conference organised by the Islamic Human Rights Commission Chairman Human Rights Network, Pakistan, Liaquat Baloch raised his concerns regarding the ongoing sectarian issues in Pakistan due to foreign interventions. I plead the current government to make suitable arrangements by deploying military at the borders to further minimise the foreign intervention.
- TERRORISM
Terrorism is one of the biggest problems in Pakistan due to which we are not saved. Terrorists always attack the schools, colleges, universities, hospital and many more and killing the students and small kids marble heartedly. We could observer that in this month, we have faced many attacks where we have lost precious lives. The recent attack in Mastung was the most terrible attack in complete Pakistan where more than 150 people died. Still the terrorists are attacking and killing our leaders which is very much bad for our country. So for this government should provide more and more securities in order to save our students and leaders.
"Terrorism is big danger for Pakistan's independence.we will fight this danger for the sake of Pakistan's independence and will defeat it at all level's."
- OVERPOPULTION
A very high birth rate has led to a growth rate of 2.1 % in Pakistani population. As we know that per capita income derives by dividing national income on total population. Low per capita income shows the population explosion. Per capita income in Pakistan is about $ 1254. Another symbol of overpopulation is unemployment and it becomes difficult to adjust the huge population in economic activities. The rate of unemployment in Pakistan is 5.6 %. Several factors are responsible for this population explosion in Pakistan:
• A single person cannot support his family in developing countries like Pakistan. He assumes that if he has more children there will be more earning hands to support the family.
• Due to illiteracy, people are not aware of the economic problems caused by a high birth rate. Lack of thorough religious knowledge and some self-made beliefs also contribute.
• Family planning available in Pakistan isn’t that effective. Most of the people are not familiar with the methods of family planning further they feel hesitation to consult for that as well.
• Getting married at an early age like between 16 to 22 years in Pakistanis infect increases the duration for re-productivity in a woman’s life.
• Sometimes competition among the family members in accordance with the family size especially in the joint family system is one of the causes.
• Polygamy is the condition or practice of having more than one wife at one time. The existence of polygamy also contributes to the increase in population. People feel the pride to have a large family.
• Lack of recreational facilities and employment opportunities in Pakistan is also a contributing factor. The only recreational activity a couple can have is passing time together.
“A crowded society is a restrictive society; an overcrowded society becomes an authoritarian, repressive and murderous society.”
- ILLITERACY
